Northrop Student Placement Input Form for the 2018-2019 School Year
At Northrop School, many factors go into the process of student placement. It is important that each classroom is heterogeneously grouped, has a balance of boys/girls, and the special needs and learning styles of all students are considered during the student placement process.
We also want parents and guardians If you would like to share with us information that may be beneficial as we place students in classrooms. If you are interested in completing a Student Placement Input Form for the 2018-2019 School Year, please pick up a form in the office or request a form from your child's classroom teacher (to go home in their backpack). All forms must be returned to the Northrop front office on/or before Friday, April 27, 2018. Please email Amy.Jahnke@mpls.k12.mn.us with any questions.
Minnehaha Monday Starts Monday!
We always appreciate parent volunteers to support students along our walking route. Please email Kylie.Pieczonka@mpls.k12.mn.us to let her know you will be there. Thank you!
Our NEW Lunchroom is Ready!
One last reminder that we also gave students- unfortunately we could not squeeze student bathrooms into the new lunchroom. For this reason, we are asking students to use the bathroom before recess and/or lunch, PRIOR to coming into the lunchroom. We will of course allow students to use the restroom who have an immediate need. Thank you for any reminders you can also share with your kids!
Changes Begin Monday when Phase II of Construction Begins
Now that Phase I of our construction project is complete, we will begin Phase II on Monday, April 16. This phase includes the construction of the new Music classroom and Art classroom.
We are happy to report that Phase II of the project will not change foot traffic patterns on our first floor as much as we anticipated. You will notice a wall that will be built by Door 13 blocking access to the current Teacher's Lounge, Lunchroom, and Prep Kitchen. The wall will provide the safe barrier between students and construction work.
The REALLY good news is that we can continue to use Door 13 (on 43rd Avenue) as the main entrance and exit for Minneapolis Kids and Parent Drop-off and Pick-up.
Minneapolis Kids families can continue to have their kids hang up their coats and backpacks on the hooks by Door 13 and then they can proceed to the NEW Lunchroom in the morning.
Minneapolis Kids Families- the wall by Door 13 will not be built by Monday morning although you may proceed to the NEW lunchroom after your child hangs up their coat and backpack.
