Feedback Needed

Breakfast in the cafeteria seems to be going well. We would like to extend the trial run another week because we want to make sure we are able to resolve all issues in order to provide breakfast for the majority of our students. We are still having issues with some students who do not know their numbers. Many of these students are our older students. Please make sure you have talked with your students ensuring that they know their numbers. Also, if students are telling you that they ate at home, remind them to come through the line to get cereal or other items to save and eat for snack. I want our students to take advantage of our breakfast and keep our numbers up!

Please send me a quick email letting me know if this move has been a positive move and how/if it makes a difference in your day. The primary purpose of attempting to move breakfast back into the cafeteria is so that you don't have to worry with food and be able to begin your instructional day by 8:10-8:15.

Also, we are blessed to have one of the largest Good News Clubs in our area. With the number of students attending Good News and with the Y being at our school, we do not have an area for us to meet on Tuesdays. When we do have teacher's meetings, it causes the Y to have to find another location to meet because Good News takes up both the library and cafeteria. As the weather turns colder, going outside will not be an option for the Y as they have done in the past when we have scheduled meetings. We do not meet much, but I want to resolve this so that it is not stressful when we do need to meet. Please let me know if it would be okay to move our meeting day to Monday or Wednesday afternoon. I know that Wednesday is church day, so I wanted to suggest Mondays as well. Remember that we do not meet that often and we are always out by 4:30 at the latest.

Please let me know about breakfast and our meeting days as soon as you can.

Thank you!

"Sometimes you have to believe in someone else's belief in you before your own belief sets in." -Manny Scott

Keep believing in your students. Show them by who you are, the way you look at them, the way you talk, the way you walk, and by the way you teach that you believe they can move mountains. Keep believing they will grow academically. It is amazing what can happen when you just believe!

School-Wide Read to Succeed Plan

We created our Read to Succeed Plan last year to follow the guidelines set by the state. In this plan, we have two goals for our school. I wanted to make sure you knew these two goals as they are outlined in our plan. We have worked to make sure we are following these goals as we move through our year.

Goal #1: 75% of teachers will work together in teams to collect and analyze data, establish goals and look-fors for students, and create action plans for students by the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

Goal #2: Teachers will monitor student engagement in reading and writing and use this data to confer with students.

We have already started work with Goal #1 as we looked at SCReady data and F & P data. We will continue to use data to drive our instruction as we move through the year.

We are going to tie these two goals into our SLO's and will discuss this next week at our meeting.
