Invention of the Diesel engine
Rudolf Diesel was born in Paris in 1858. His first job was as a refrigerator engineer. He designed many heat engines and invented the first diesel engine.
In 1898, Rudolf Diesel was granted the patent #608,845 for the internal combustion engine, the diesel engine. It was important to the industrial revolution because his engines were used to power pipelines, electric water plants, automobiles and trucks, and marine craft.
Modern travel using diesel engines have less pollution, have better gas mileage and quality of parts to last longer.
