School's Out for Summer!
Wishing all of our students, families, and staff a wonderful, relaxing summer vacation!
From PHS to UPenn
Pennsbury High School students enrolled in Ms. Cappelloni's Math Seminar class recently had a unique opportunity to attend classes at the University of Pennsylvania The classes, taught by University of Pennsylvania professors, were an exciting, culminating opportunity for some of the most advanced mathematics students at PHS.
"We are so fortunate to be able to offer these classes to our most advanced math students. These are topics they would not get exposed to until second year in college. Ms. Cappelloni has done an exceptional job creating this course and offering opportunities like this to her students," said Dr. Gary McManus, Supervisor of Mathematics, K-12.
Math Seminar focuses on Number Theory and Linear Algebra.
Math Fun at Fallsington!
Fifth-grade students at Fallsington Elementary held a Math Carnival for students in grades K-2 this week. The students worked in small groups to recreate Everyday Math 4 games for each grade level. The younger students were excited to travel to the different stations to play these games. There were also extra fun activities such as a long jump and a candy estimation station. It was a great way to review all the math skills they learned this year!

Year End Fun at Penn Valley!
Third-grade students at Penn Valley Elementary School wrapped up the year with a hoedown, hosted by 3rd-grade teachers Ms. Portland, Mrs. Zubrzycki, Mrs. O'Brien, Miss Petruccio, and Mrs. McGurrin.
"We sang songs together while Ms. Portland played the piano, shared our sheriff badges, square danced after much practicing, autographed memory booklets, and ate some good old-fashioned hotdogs with potato chips. It was a wonderful way to close the year as we celebrated with all our students and parent volunteers," said Mrs. McGurrin.

Fallsington Students Learn the Importance of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Kindergarten students and their fourth-grade buddies at Fallsington Elementary School recently engaged in a lesson on caring for the planet by reducing, reusing, and recycling waste. The lesson was led by Pennsbury School Board Vice President Gary Sanderson, with the support of Waste Management, a Pennsbury Partner. Students learned about landfills and the importance of reducing waste. They also created an "edible" landfill and received a reusable lunch bag, water bottle, straw, container, and ziplock bag, to help them reduce waste!
