Hello New Tech Families,
May is upon us and bringing the feel of summer's warm weather and longer days; however, it also means the closing of another school year! This will be the final parent bulletin for the 2022-23 school year in which you find important end of the year information. Senior finals, end of the year events and graduation will all take place in the coming weeks, so please check your calendars to ensure you stay up-to-date on pertinent information. The New Tech graduation ceremony will be held this year on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 6:30 pm in the Zion Benton Performing Arts Center. The doors open at 5:30 pm. Final exams for seniors will take place the week of May 15th, with all other grade levels taking finals on Tuesday May 23rd, Wednesday May 24th, and Thursday May 25th. Please see the bulletin and the NT website for details about all relevant end of the year events.
I am a proud principal as I reflect on the diligence and perseverance our students and staff have displayed throughout the year. This school year we implemented many new initiatives with success which are bringing excellent options and opportunities to our students. Students may continue their learning experience by considering the D126 summer school offerings! I hope every family gets the opportunity this summer to spend quality time together. Time really moves quickly, and I encourage all to slow down and enjoy one another over the summer months! It has been a pleasure serving this community as the principal at New Tech and as always, I look forward to creating more great days for our students and staff next year!
In partnership,
Bonnie Felske

Summer is on the way and you don’t want to miss out on capturing photos. The best camera is the one that’s always with you. Here’s how to make the most of it- Cell Phone Summer Photography tips
Summer is heating up! It’s time to roll out the lounge chairs and coolers and have some fun in the sun! It’s also time to be wary of the temperature of your cell phone. Long periods of heat exposure can age your battery, damage hardware parts and cause system freezing .
Keep your cell phone cool and working properly with these quick tips:
Don’t leave your phone in a hot car or other place that is too hot for people or animals to be in.
Don’t leave your phone in direct sunlight.
Avoid using apps that tax the processor and thus heat up the device, such as GPS and games.
Turn off Bluetooth if not in use.
Avoid charging when in a hot area.
Remove your case to give your phone some air if you feel it getting hotter than normal.
Let your phone cool down naturally…do not put it in a fridge/freezer or other cold space. Comfortable room temperature is best.

SUMMER READING PROGRAMS

ZBPL Summer Reading Challenge
Each year, the Zion-Benton Public Library offers a summer reading challenge for kids, teens, and adults. Watch their website for the official launch of the 2023 challenge!
Read for a Lifetime
The state of Illinois also offers a reading program to promote reading for a lifetime! Students can earn certificates for the following:
