Krypton. Kr. Whatever you want to call it, it is a really useful and cool element. It was discovered on May 30, 1898 by Sir William Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English chemist, while studying liquefied air. Small amounts of liquid Krypton remained after all of the more volatile components of liquid air had boiled away. Krypton is a member of group 18 (noble gasses) elements, also, it's period is 4.
the symbol is Kr, atomic number 36, atomic mass 83.79, protons 36, electrons 36, and neutrons 36, eight valence electrons, 6 isotopes.
Krypton is found in the earths atmosphere where it is normally a gas, and it is used in camera flashes, fluorescent lightbulbs, and high speed photography cameras.
The element was discovered when Sir William Ramsay was experimenting with liquid air. once it was all evaporated, some krypton was left behind. Also it's name comes from the Greek word meaning hidden, kryptos.
