Time is running out! Try-It! Illinois Free Database Trials through Nov. 30

Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and the Illinois State Library are pleased to announce that Try-It! Illinois, the sixteenth annual statewide database trial, will be available October 1 – November 30. Try-It! Illinois offers library staffs and patrons an excellent opportunity to survey and evaluate a wide variety of electronic resources. Thanks to partnerships between the State Library and the participating electronic resource vendors, there is no charge for accessing these databases during Try-It! Illinois.

Most of our database subscriptions began as trials that teachers tested and requested. Pick up the username and password from the LMC circ desk and take a look for yourself or try out a database with your classes. I'm especially interested in hearing suggestions from the Math and Science departments this year.

Keep me posted on what you discover!

Have you tried the new Opposing Viewpoints?

Find it on the LMC Edline page. Articles for every discipline. Highlight and add notes to articles. Save articles to Google Drive. Push articles to your Google Classroom. Skip the photocopier altogether.

Annual "Start a Series" Promotion Nov. 16 - Dec. 4

Now through Dec. 4, we're featuring dozens of series--new and classic--for checkout for the upcoming breaks from school. If students check out more than one book in the series, they may keep both books until January without needing to renew.

We're encouraging students to use our eRead Illinois subscription to fill in series gaps on their personal devices if the books they need are checked out.

Fiction Addiction meets Thurs. Nov. 19

Fiction Addiction is all about mysteries this fall. We'll discuss Ellen Raskin's The Westing Game (1979 Newbery Medal) before watching a whodunit on the big screen.
