Student M-Step Practice
M-STEP
Sample item sets are now available for all tested grades and subjects: https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/ott1 Classes who used the sample items last year reported fewer issues with the online testing process, so please make sure your students have experience with the sample items before testing.
Types of M-Step Questions
More info on sample items: Sample Item Sets are a select group of test items in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, science, and social studies that encompass different item types, such as multiple choice, constructed response, and various kinds of technology-enhanced items. The sets provide students practice in solving grade-level and content-specific test items aligned to Michigan’s content standards.
Keypad Input instead of Equation Builder
Keypad Input: The Equation Builder used last year in the Spring 2015 online administration of the M-STEP mathematics test has been replaced with a new and improved Keypad Input. The Keypad Input allows for the entry of numbers, expressions, equations, etc., but does not perform any actual computations. Grades 3–5 are not permitted to use a calculator on any portion of the mathematics test.
3 Week Testing Window
Testing Schedules: 3rd Grade April 25th-May 13th and 4th Grade May 9th-May 27th. NEW this year, online tests will remain open and available for testing until the student ends or submits his or her test. This means that students will have the capability to exit their test at the end of the scheduled test session and resume testing in another scheduled session during the 3-week grade-level online testing window
