Grizz Pageant! 4/14
GRIZZ PAGEANT IS THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 14TH
7PM-9PM
IN THE AHS THEATRE!
Tickets are $10
Come and see Conrad Sanford, Sam Stiles, Lionel Ward, Sascha Wells, and Willow Williams bring back AHS tradition by participating in this mock pageant. You’ll see dancing, talents, day in the life videos, and more hilarious moments.
Grizz Pageant is a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network and Asante’s NICU, so 100% of the proceeds go towards helping preemie babies! Tickets are $10 and will be sold on the quad during lunch this week or you can buy tickets at the door.
Donations buckets will be available before the show and during intermission if you'd like to donate more and help one of our five contestants win "Most Money Raised!"

is honored at the 2022 Oregon Stage Thespian Festival
Elsinore Theatre in Salem, Oregon March 30—April 2
We won Honor Troupe 2022 with two other schools (including Grants Pass HS) as Outstanding Oregon Troupes for thespian participation, community service and standards.
The Haunted Drive- Thru; the Mountain Meadows Showcase and the Cinderella elementary school shows were featured.
We also won BEST PORTFOLIO for HONOR TROUPE, a 36 page proof of work with photos and articles of about our shows and activities since September.

We have thirty 2020-2021 Yearbooks (last school year) available for purchase. If you didn't not get the chance to buy one, now's your chance. Yearbooks are $45. You can call the Main Office and pay over the phone at 541-482-8771 or come into the Main Office Monday-Friday 8am-4pm to purchase a yearbook.
If you would like to buy a yearbook for THIS school year, you can pay for those online through Josten's Online Yearbook Order or through the Main Office. 2021-2022 Yearbooks are $45.

SOU Cheerleading Opportunity 4/9
SOU is starting the tryout process for next season and is looking for any seniors with experience who want to attend SOU and join Cheerleading.
SOU is going competitive next year and is looking to recruit 10 additional cheer athletes and 5 dancer athletes. They are having a recruiting clinic April 9th on campus that would be very beneficial to anyone interested in cheer or dance at SOU. There is a two step registration. One being a recruitment form found at Prospective Athlete Form - Southern Oregon University Athletics (souraiders.com) and the other being payment of $15 for the actual clinic which can be found at Camps - Southern Oregon University Athletics (souraiders.com).

Student Tutor Center
AHS Student Tutor Center's hours have changed ! The Student Tutor Center is available on Mondays and Fridays from 3pm-4pm, and Wednesdays from 2:40-3:40pm in the IVC.
All students are welcome for free tutoring. Academic support services include: homework help, study and organizational skills advice, paper editing, project assistance, world languages practice and test preparation.
Counseling Office
High school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child and adolescent development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period.

Careers in Gear is back!!! Juniors, you may remember attending this large Career Fair in Medford as 9th graders, where you got to learn about career pathways and educational opportunities to help you get the job you want. This year Careers in Gear is bigger than ever and will be held at the Jackson County Expo on the morning of April 27th with over 100 businesses and educational organizations there for you to explore. AHS will be taking all 10th graders to Careers in Gear this year, but students of all ages are welcome to attend. Many of the businesses that will be at Careers in Gear this year are looking to hire for both part and full- time jobs, and will have information about positions available and how to apply at the fair.
The organizers of Careers in Gear will be hosting an assembly in the theater during TCB on Thursday to share information about this exciting event. All sophomores should attend the assembly and all other students are welcome to come learn more about the many opportunities available at Careers in Gear. The 2022 Oregon Public University Tour is back this year with a one-night virtual event! Oregon’s eight public universities are teaming up to help Oregon high school students of all ages learn about their in-state college options. From large research universities to smaller liberal arts universities; urban, rural or suburban locales; Oregonians have a plethora of choices! You'll have a chance to meet with admissions representatives from all eight public universities to learn more about the benefits of studying in Oregon.

Learn about the pathways to access financial aid and scholarships! We will discuss the process for completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which qualifies students to receive the Federal Pell Grant, Oregon Opportunity Grant, Oregon Promise Grant, and government loans. Even if you think your family will not qualify for federal financial aid, it is important to complete the FAFSA. Many colleges will not give students merit aid unless they have a FAFSA on record.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - Camp RYLA
CAMP RYLA
Ashland Rotary Club has four scholarships for AHS students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp (RYLA). It is an amazing experience and thanks to the generosity of the local clubs, free for participants.

The program is open this year for current sophomores and juniors (soon to be juniors and seniors). Camp RYLA runs for one week from June 18 to June 23. All transportation and meals are included. Trainers are some of the best in the business, and for years, students have said it is a life-changing experience.

Move Out Crew Member
Job Summary:
Ashland Greenhouses has been known for locally grown, region specific plants since 1906. We grow 100% of the plant starts we sell. All of our plants are selected to do well in our unique climate. We are open to the public and serve individual gardeners, landscapers, and businesses. We also ship wholesale orders to independent garden centers, nurseries, and flower shops.
As a Move Out Crew Member, you will assist in moving plants from one area to another, filling containers with soil, moving/hauling soil, lifting and hanging planted baskets, and other general labor tasks. This job requires the physical ability to perform a multitude of labor-intensive jobs.
*Positions are seasonal and the compensation is minimum wage.*
Job Responsibilities:
While working, a Move Out Crew Member’s responsibilities will include:
- Lift up to 20 lbs. repeatedly over an 8-hour day from ground to head level and place from head to ground level
- Carrying and lifting flats (about 15 lbs. weight)
- Balancing/walking down narrow paths/aisles
- Maneuver 7’ tall racks (on casters) fully loaded with plant material (75-100 lbs. push/pull weight)
- Precisely maneuver delivery rack shelves (20 lbs. weight)
- Operate an electric cart (often with a trailer) safely
Skills:
Some skills essential for the position are:
- Functional knowledge of plant identification is highly recommended
- Ability to work cooperatively with the Growing and Wholesale employees
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in cold and hot conditions, loud noise, wind, and dust
- Willingness to work flexible/variable hours ranging from 8 to 40+ hours a week on weekdays and weekends
