Encouragement for Students

We've had a great first month! As we enter October, students will start to recognize those subjects and areas that are a challenge to them. The newness of the school year starts to fade, and reality sets in. I thought this chart gave some great options for when you hear a student questioning their abilities or struggling with a concept. I was thinking I could use some for myself sometimes, too! (chart from http://www.rundesroom.com/)

Positive Feedback From Parents - Thanks for Being SO Awesome!

Quotes from recent parent conversations at BTSN, New Parent Cocktail Party, and Family Fun Day...

"I asked my son, so how is school?" and he said, "Mom, School Rocks!"

"Yesterday my son got a 39 out of 40 on his first math test. That is about what he got for his whole year at his last school. Now he LOVES math and we are so happy."

"My daughter told me, 'Mom, the teachers are so organized here!,"

"Fairview Lake was an amazing trip for my daughter - she loved it!"

"My son asked, 'Mom, why did God create night? Why can't it be day all the time so I could go to school all the time?'"

"My son is doing so well at Morristown Beard and I just have to tell you, Oak Knoll prepared him tremendously for this next set of middle school years. You really laid the groundwork for him."

"We brought our daughter here to get away from all the drama, and there is no drama. She is having a good time learning and making friends - we couldn't be happier."

"I tried but could never get a team of teachers to meet with me at my daughter's old school. I am so grateful that the teachers took the time to sit down with me and hear about my daughter and her special concerns."

"I was so impressed with BTSN. All of the teachers were so organized and many had powerpoints. If they accomplish all that they shared about, this will be a fantastic education for my child. I felt really great about what they shared that my daughter will be learning this year. "

"From the first time we were here and met the teachers, there was such a sense of authenticity. I wanted to sign my son up right away. Now that he's here, he is loving it!"

Mission Effectiveness: Focus On Our Holy Child Goals

Goal 4: Holy Child Schools work for Christian principles of justice, peace, and compassion in every facet of life.

Ideas: As a follow up to Prayer Families, ask students what St. Francis' quote means: "For it is in giving that we receive." Take your students on a walk to the Lower Level and have them read the paper chains hanging from the ceiling that tell what words some students are going to use more with others. They are really inspiring!
