Attendance is essential for scholastic success. The compulsory attendance laws of Missouri require district resident children between the ages of 7 and 16 years old to attend school. If a child will be absent for any reason, a parent/guardian should notify the school office and send in a doctor's note if applicable. Those experiencing difficulties attending school will receive a series of informational letters encouraging changes in attendance habits. These letters will be sent out at 5, 10, 13 and 17 cumulative absences. This includes being tardy, late arrivals, early dismissals and full day absences.

I help students feel confident about their learning here at South Elementary. Students visit my class in small groups to deepen their knowledge of foundational academic skills. Students get a chance to revisit previous learning from their classroom teachers and solidify that knowledge to make them long lasting learners. My hope for each student who comes to my class is that they find a passion for learning, have a safe place to learn at their own level, and have fun!
