From Dr. Gruman

Dear Northwest Families,

This has been an exciting and busy week as we have navigated many different activities. We have two more shows for our spring musical, Once Upon a Mattress, at 7 pm tonight and Saturday. We hope you can join us for this wonderful production! So many of our students are sharing their time and talents in the cast, crew, pit orchestra, and stage management.

Next week we will highlight Black History Month with a Spirit Week hosted by our BSU leaders. We are excited for students to participate in the spirit days in a way that celebrates and respects everyone in our community. In our seminar period on Thursday, teachers will share time with students exploring a presentation about prominent historical and contemporary leaders in the African American/Black community. Due to the movement with our daily schedule and days out of school, our student leaders lacked the rehearsal time necessary to adequately prepare for our annual Black History Month Assembly. We value those opportunities and our student leaders are exploring future plans to celebrate diversity with other student groups at NW.

We are excited to cheer our boys' wrestling team to state qualifications this Friday and Saturday as we host the regional competition! We hope to have numerous athletes punch their ticket to state and join the girls' qualifiers in Wichita next week. Our swimmers have been busy in the state competition and their final heats are tomorrow. Our state qualifiers for KMEA are heading to Wichita next week as well. Our Cougar Pride is showing.

Please see additional calendar highlights below. We hope you can join us for the PTSA meeting on Wednesday night at 6 pm in the NW Library.

Have a wonderful week!

All the best,

Dr. Lisa Gruman
