Project Idea
The European migrant crisis or European refugee crisis began in 2015, when a rising number of refugees and migrants made the journey to the European Union to seek asylum, travelling across the Mediterranean Sea, or through Southeast Europe. Local armed conflicts such so in the Eastern Ukraine (since 2014) or in Georgia (in 2008) always lead to such consequences when people are forced to leave their homes and to seek for asylums in different places in their country or abroad.
Together with their families or alone, there are many young people coming as forced migrants and refugees, and all of them are looking for the safe life and happy future. Young people have a great potential and can be productive members of the new society, but they need help to overcome their internal injuries and fears, as well as they need help to get integrated into a new community. And there should be not only the professional work made with them directly (psychologists, social workers etc), but also the willingness of the new society, their peers, to take them on an equal footing and to integrate.
The International Training Course is designed to help youth leaders and youth workers, trainers and educators to learn what they can make in their communities for integration of the young people who arrived as refugees or forced migrants.
Aims and Objectives
- To discover the challenges which appear in the communities in Europe connected with the forced migration and refugees;
- To learn about the methods which can be used to help young refugees or forced migrants to get integrated into the local communities;
- To learn about how youth can be active on the local to help in the integration of the forced migrants and refugees;
- To create local projects aimed at integration of the young people coming as refugees or forced migrants;
- To promote international cooperation in the youth field.
