Information to Assist TVUSD Families, Students, and Staff

Dear Temecula Valley USD Community,

As previously shared, effective Monday, March 16, all Temecula Valley Unified School District schools and programs are closed until April 5, 2020. This includes preschool and BASES programming, including spring camp. We plan to resume school Monday, April 6, depending on public health guidance and circumstances at that time. Communications regarding distance learning opportunities for students will be forthcoming should the need to extend school closures beyond April 5 become a necessity. Below is some clarifying information to assist you.

Student Instruction: No Required Instruction for Week of March 16-20, 2020

There is no required instruction for the week of March 16 - 20, 2020. We encourage students to use this time to stay connected to their academics by working on unfinished projects, reading, etc. independently. Families and students will receive information before April 6 regarding distance learning options, and assistance should TVUSD need to extend school closures beyond April 5.

School Offices: Will Be Open Monday, March 16 ONLY

School site offices will be open during regular school hours on Monday, March 16, 2020, to allow for families to pick up medication and other student belongings as appropriate.

Student Nutrition For Students Enrolled at Temecula Elementary School (TES), Vail Elementary School (VES) & Margarita Middle School (MMS)

The Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) Nutrition Services program will provide an opportunity for families of students enrolled at TES, VES, and MMS to pick up meals from March 16th through March 20th at Temecula Elementary School. Children must be present in the car for meals to be provided. Breakfast and lunch will be served in pre-packaged grab-n-go bags. Please stay in your car, and meals will be passed through based on the number of children in the car. No TVUSD family who shows up to receive nutrition will be turned away.

BASES Spring Vacation Care Camp: CANCELED

The BASES Spring Vacation Care Camp is included in the district closure. Tuition that has already been paid for Vacation Care Camp will be credited towards your April tuition. A one week credit for March's tuition will be issued for April.

Report Health Concerns and Spring Break Travel Advisories

Families or TVUSD employees with health questions or concerns should contact the public health hotline 211 or 1-800-CDC-INFO.

For information on travel plans families or staff might be planning for Spring Break, please consult the US State Department's website for travel guidelines. If someone travels to an area that is currently on the travel watch list, families and staff returning are responsible for self-reporting. TVUSD will share additional information about travel and returning staff and student protocols prior to April 6, 2020. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/novel-coronavirus-hubei-province--china.html

TVUSD Employee Inquiries and Questions

As noted above, teachers are not expected to provide distance learning instruction next week. Site staff who report directly to a school site (except custodians and bookkeepers) received direct communication from site administration regarding expectations. All other employees who report to a district department received correspondence from your department supervisor. Please use the online system located on the Contact TVUSD website to direct your inquiry appropriately https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/contactus

Facility Use Cancelations and Peachjar Flyers

Outside user groups who scheduled TVUSD facilities for before/after school programs, classes, events, churches, etc., have received cancelation contact from TVUSD’s Maintenance and Operations Department. Families who have paid for participation in a canceled activity will need to contact the vendor providing the activity. TVUSD is currently reviewing facility cancelations and evaluating options for vendors who had already paid for facilities and Peachjar flyers for events scheduled March 13-April 5. We are suspending the distribution of Peachjar flyers for vendors at this time.

General Inquiries and District Office Department Operations

TVUSD’s District office will be open. However, many departments will be closed to walk-in visitors. To limit exposure and in-person contacts, we ask that individuals with questions or needing assistance, call or use our online system. Contact information can be located on the following website https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/contactus

We will also continue to post updates to our dedicated website
