Welcome to the 2021-22 School Year

I am excited to be joining OCEAN K-12 as the principal this year. I began my teaching career at alternative schools and have a passion for experiential and expeditionary learning. I look forward to getting to know the OCEAN K-12 students and families over the year, and hearing about why you choose alternative education and what you are hoping for this school year. I invite you to click the button below to share with us some of your ideas as we kick off the school year.

Our experienced OCEAN K-12 teachers, Daniel Molotsky and Molly O'Brien, will be joined by Kyle Reynolds to provide a complete K-12 learning experience with classroom, experiential and expeditionary experiences, and connections with parents and the community. You can read more about Kyle in this newsletter. Additionally, OCEAN will be supported by the new Blue Heron and OCEAN Counselor, Eliza Farrell.

All OCEAN K-12 students will attend in-person classes as part of their learning plan. We will follow the district COVID health and safety protocols including masking, distancing, and hand washing. More information will be provided in the coming weeks and at Back to School Night about health and safety measures.

In addition to my focus on OCEAN K-12, I will be directing the new Online Program as the Alternative Learning Experience Director and will continue to be the District Place-Based Learning Director. If you need to reach for any reason me I am available by email or phone, as well as on site at OCEAN throughout the year.

Best wishes,

Sarah Rubenstein

OCEAN K-12 Principal
