Great Habits Make Great Leaders
Wow! Our school year is already flying by. This time of year gets very busy and doesn't seem to slow down. We are entering our 8th week of school and the end of our first grading period. I have really enjoyed getting to know each of my students and we share lots of laughs on a daily basis. (I'm sure you heard all about the day they got to laugh and make fun of their teacher because she smelled like a skunk!) Every day is an adventure and I love getting to spend it with them.
Leader in Me
We have spent lots of time learning about the 7 habits and how we can put them into practice.
Habit 2 teaches us to Begin With the End in Mind.
I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference.
I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school’s mission and vision.
I look for ways to be a good citizen.
One thing we did the first week of school was create a class mission statement. I had a discussion with the students and asked them these questions. Why are we here? What do we need to do well together? How will we make that happen? I recorded their answers and from there we were able to develop this mission statement.
We are here to learn new things, become leaders, and have fun!
We will do this by trying our best each day, respecting others, and practicing the 7 habits.
Here are a some pics of the activity and our class mission statement that is posted in the classroom. These are not the actual pics from our class because I didn't think to take pics of them. They are borrowed from http://www.teachingandlearningtogether.com/
Student Council is helping families in need of diapers and are collecting diapers and/or change. This is a school wide project and it will also last until the end of October.
Each grade level is responsible for participating in a service project. 3rd grade chose to participate in Socktober. We are asking students to bring in socks that will be donated to Haven for Hope. Socks may be for adults or children and must be new. We will collect socks until the end of October. The class that brings in the most pairs of socks will win a crazy sock day! Please view the video below for a message from our Kid President.
