Happy last week of school everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful 3 day weekend and are ready for the last 3 days of the 21-22 school year. It has been yet another unprecedented school year and our community has weathered through it together. We are very grateful for our students, the adults in their lives, and our community for everything you all do to support our students and their learning. It truly is a full community effort and we are grateful for the ways you all have partnered with us this year.
As we finish out the year this week, please see below for information about the last week of school, promotion, and other important information. Please be sure if you have any questions to reach out to the office at 925.682.5700 or any of the emails below for relevant information.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
On the Last Day Thursday 6/2
All students will enter school at the front entrance and be checked in.
Students are allowed to bring a yearbook and a pen ( NO SHARPIES) on the last day of school. Please keep in mind that backpacks, tote bags or any other similar items are NOT allowed and will be subject to search. Items will be taken and stored until the end of the day.
The last day of school ends at 12:16. Since there are no parties allowed there is no need to bring food items/candy to school.
- Students should only be leaving the classroom when absolutely necessary.
MATERIALS TURN IN
Students returning to MDUSD school sites in the fall will continue to use the same device, as the 1:1 device program continues to become an increasingly meaningful part of each student's experience as a 21st Century Learner in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. If you have any issues with your student’s device, please contact your school site.
Due to our transition to Chromebooks this year, very few textbooks were checked out to students. If your student received a textbook they need to be returned to the class they were checked out for.
8th GRADE PROMOTION
Summer is coming and that means more time at home with your Toros. Sometimes more family time equals more frustrations. Remember, as parents, we can become the calm we want to see in our children. If your children say or do something and you find yourself frustrated or angry, here is a strategy to help. Take a deep breath in through your nose and have a mantra in mind, something like, “She/he is having a hard time” or “This isn’t about me”. Respond in the moment and validate the feeling your child is expressing. For example, “Sounds like you are really angry” or “I see this is hard for you right now.” Then walk away. Later on, when everyone's emotions are calm, you can help your child reflect on the situation. Ask them what they can do differently rather than taking their anger or frustration out on you. Lastly, ask them how you can help support them in those strong emotional moments. When you model calmness, this will help your child learn to regulate their own emotions. This is not always easy, but with practice, it gets easier.
