Spiritual Reflection
Dr. Louis De Angelo, Superintendent
Christus resurrexit! (Christ is risen!)
Resurrexit vere! (He is risen, indeed!)
We begin the Easter season focused on the final theme of Catholic Social Teaching – Care for God’s Creation. What an appropriate theme to celebrate during the Easter season as we recall that all life –all creation – is a gift from God. At Easter we are keenly aware that in Jesus Christ our eternal life has been restored as a result of His passion, death,
and resurrection. We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan, it is a requirement of our faith. We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation. This environmental challenge has fundamental moral and ethical dimensions that cannot be ignored. Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si') is the new appeal from Pope Francis addressed to "every person living on this planet" for an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. Pope Francis calls the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path.
