Happy Tuesday!

news and info to get you through the week

Congratulations Dawgs!

Since 1994, the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program has honored more than 395,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy® Committee. The leadership award-honorees are well-rounded young men and women who excel in learning, performing, and leading in the class room, on the field and in the community.

Like The Heisman Memorial Trophy, the Wendy’s program believes in the pursuit of athletic and academic excellence with integrity. And in addition to honoring student accomplishments, the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program inspires all future high school students to pursue their higher education goals.

High School students apply for this competition and Wendy's selects 1 male and 1 female winner per school from the applications. Wendy's then selects a State Winner to enter into the National Finals.

  • Congratulations to Aiden and Haley Chang for being selected as the Wendy's Heisman winners at Aquin High School in 2014.
  • Additional congratulations to Aiden Chang for being named the Illinois State Winner.

Way to go Dawgs! Click here to see the complete list of winners!

#KeepDomStrong Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow marks Dominic's 4th trip to Madison for chemo treatments. With each chemo treatment, Dominic's immune system is weakened. So, our support of Dominic and his health is #KeepDomStrong.

As a visual reminder of Dominic's treatments, all Aquin staff and students are invited to wear #DomStrong shirts to school on the Wednesdays that he receives treatments. Students can wear their #DomStrong shirts with dress code pants at either campus--no charge! If you don't have a #DomStrong shirt, we have more available in the Spirit Shop. Or, (and additionally), please support Dominic through prayer.

At the high school campus where Dominic spends the majority of his time, we are asking students and staff to be very conscientious about the spreading of germs. If your student has a fever, cough, is vomiting, or is visibly ill--please keep him or her at home. Dominic cannot fend off these contagious illnesses as easily now that his immune system is compromised. We must all work together to help keep Dominic healthy.

All classrooms are stocked with kleenex, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes and we have discussed with students the importance of keeping their germs to themselves.

We thank you for your continued support.

Thank You Alumni Football USA

On Sunday, over 45 Northwest Illinois Alumni donned their pads and helmets once again to play football on Conley Field. Their efforts resulted in a hard-fought battle on the grid-iron between 'Purple Strength' and 'White Courage'. The winner at the end of the game was the Dominic DeMichele Medical Fund as the game raised over $2700--including over $400 from the 50/50 (staffed by the DeMichele Family), concessions (staffed by the Aquin Football Team), DomStrong merchandise sales, gate proceeds and donations from players.

A Thank you From Alumni Football USA

I just wanted to thank you for letting us help bring the guys together and raise money for Dom. After everything was said and done we raised $2,300 for the DeMichele medical fund . . . I think Dom had a good time, and I know the players did . . . It was a very touching and meaningful game to end our season.
