Attendance
When students are absent they must turn in a note from either their Dr (if it was a medical appointment) or a parent note for any other absences. Notes may be emailed to Ms. Cody at olivia.cody@nisd.net or turned into the front office. Notes from parents need to have the student's name, date of the absence and reason for the absence. Drs notes will have the necessary information already on them.
Please see the Attendance FAQ for the most popular questions or feel free to call the front office.
As a reminder, students are only allowed 8 absences for the Fall Semester, at 9 absences, the student will lose credit for the course.
National Yearbook Week
Most yearbookers know that just being on yearbook staff is cause for celebration. But in case that wasn’t enough, each year in early October there’s an official one-week holiday, declared in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to recognize this important school publication.
National Yearbook Week honors school yearbook programs for chronicling their school’s history and the students who work to compile these memories into a lasting printed record.
While Yearbook Week seeks to recognize the role a school yearbook plays in documenting educational achievement and school tradition, it’s not just a holiday for yearbook staff.
If the yearbook is for everyone, so is yearbook week! National Yearbook Week begins October 4th!
With our theme, Timeless, we believe that the ideas for dress up day go well with it and would bring up the excitement for our finished product. The days would be as followed:
- Monday: Black and White Day
- Tuesday: Decade Day
- Wednesday: Senior Citizen Dress Up Day
- Thursday: Color/Mismatch Day
- Friday: School Spirit Day
United Yearbook
We are living through historic times and the best way to remember everything that happens this school year is by purchasing a yearbook. Yearbooks are on sale now through the end of the year, but if you want the cheapest price of $70 and FOUR FREE ENGRAVED ICONS ON YOUR COVER you need to order by Friday, October 15. The price increases to $75 on October 16 and then to $80 on January 29th. Orders are done through JostensYearbooks.com
If you ordered last year’s and have not picked it up, we will be delivering those to students next few weeks or you can contact Mr. Kohlmann at Taft to arrange pick up sooner. If you did NOT order last year’s, but would like to purchase one, we still have some available for purchase for $80 or you can purchase a package deal of last year's and this year's yearbook at $120. That's a $30 savings. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. McCarthy in room C205 before or after school.
Please note: The Taft and Comm Arts yearbooks combined last year.

Open House TOMORROW 9/29
We strongly encourage families to visit during the designated hour that corresponds to the student's last name. Open House is a time to meet teachers and receive important information regarding the class. If you would like a parent/teacher conference, please schedule one with the teacher for a different date and time.
