The Walnut Way

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!

Dear Walnut Family,

I am delighted to be reaching out to you as Walnut High School's new Principal. Since being hired on July 1, 2019, I am grateful to the entire Walnut community and deeply humbled that I get to serve this exceptional school who truly puts kids first. As great as the last school year was for Walnut, the 2019-2020 school year has the potential to be even better! I am energized by the opportunity to extend our vision of putting kids first, both academically and social-emotionally. To do this, your continued help, leadership, and support will be needed at our great high school.

Looking back since our school first opened its doors in 1968, Walnut High School has established itself as one of the top high schools in the nation due to our academic excellence and exemplary athletic and extra-curricular programs. Walnut High School continues to be recognized both locally and nationally. WHS has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, a California Distinguished School, Newsweek’s Top 100 High School in America, an International Baccalaureate World School, and more. Our staff works diligently to provide a quality education for all students and continues to find innovative practices that connect our students beyond the classroom walls while creating a family atmosphere. We call this "The Walnut Way". (See video above).

The staff and I are committed to creating a well-rounded educational experience for our students. Walnut High School is a place where students of all backgrounds can form lifelong connections whether inside the classroom or part of an extra-curricular group. This year will be full of opportunities and challenges. Take advantage of the opportunities, and meet the challenges with determination and the help of our wonderful staff. I have one challenge for all students as we start the year. GET CONNECTED! Walnut High School is a community and we expect everyone to participate and thrive in this community!

We have a motto that you might see around campus that says “Some are born here, some are drawn here, but we all call it home.” Whether you have grown up in the community or brand new to Walnut High School, you will notice a strong sense of pride, family, and support the moment you walk on campus. This is your home. WELCOME TO WALNUT HIGH SCHOOL! I am looking forward to an amazing school year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call, email, or stop by the office.

HOW TO: Open Your Lockers at Walnut High School

On Monday, your student will receive their locker assignment and combination in their English class. We created a video to help your student open their locker. Please show them this video if they need it. There will be additional help in the textbook room during lunch for the first week of school.

SOME SCHEDULES HAVE CHANGED!

Please go on to your portal and check for any schedules that may have been updated or changed this week. This will ensure that your student has the most up to date class schedule for the first day of school.

School Lunch Policy

Due to safety concerns, we DO NOT accept student lunches in the office. We understand the importance of student nutrition, but we encourage students to either purchase lunch at school or bring their lunch from home. Food, drinks, or other items are NOT to be passed to students through the fence. This is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Please Note: Parents can now access the Food Services Department from our website under the Parents tab. On that page, parents can set up and deposit funds into their student's lunch account for purchasing lunch on campus.
