For GHES Teachers -- Dec 2016

Google Expeditions - Bringing Virtual Reality to our Gators!

GCISD has one set of Google Expedition equipment. I have signed up for GHE to have the set from December 6 through the 15th. This is a great opportunity to try them out. You can choose to tie an expedition to your curriculum or just try some of the different ones to give your students the opportunity to try out the expedition. I will be in touch with each of you about a schedule. Below are two links of some possible expeditions that you can look at to see what is available. These are just a few that have been highlighted that might be relevant to what you are doing:

Epic eBooks

I have an AMAZING resource that I want to share with you and your readers. There are a few teachers that are using it for eBooks in their classes already.

Epic eBooks has an ENORMOUS number of popular books, non-fiction books and a lot more to offer your readers. Mackinvia has eBooks that I have shown your kiddos but I feel that Epic is much more USER FRIENDLY and has so many more CHOICES! The books on Epic are FREE!

The downfall is you have to set up your class and add your students. I am willing to do this for you! After I get you signed up, it is as easy as having your students log in! Just email me your class list or let me know you want me to do this for you and I will let you know when you can access it! YOUR STUDENTS WILL LOVE IT!!!

If you need a password for one of our databases, you can go to the Destiny Symbaloo and there is a tile named "Login info". If you click on the tile, it will take you to a Google doc that has all the databases, subscriptions, along with logins and passwords. You can get to all of these databases through Mackinvia with just your GCISD login and password as well. But...if you are needing a specific one, this is where you can find them!

Makerspace on its way!

Makerspaces can be a great addition to support curriculum objectives. It is a way of extending student learning. Support is needed to implement the maker concept by incorporating them into classrooms and the library program. There will be another Makerspace GTU coming up in our next session.

Example materials already purchased include legos, Little Bits, Ozobot, Green Screen, Dash & Flash, Lego WeDo, building/creating materials, Makey Makey, Snap Circuits, and 3D printing. These are just a few of the things that will help get us started!

Please click on the following link to add any ideas you may have about the Gator Makerspace! These could be things you have read about Makerspaces, ideas about scheduling, materials for Makerspaces......
