Fourth Grade Field Trip

This Friday, November 14, fourth grade will travel to Jefferson City to tour the Missouri Capitol. Students are allowed to bring backpacks and electronic devices, but the backpacks must stay on the bus for security reasons. Students also are not allowed to bring snacks; safe snacks will be provided by the teachers. Lunches must be brought in a paper bag and all lunch items must be disposable. Everything will be thrown away at the end of lunch time.

Fifth Grade Musical

Next Wednesday, November 19, is the fifth grade musical at 7:00 in the Castlio gymnasium. The title is Music, Movies & Mayhem. Attendees must have tickets. Children 3 years old and younger do not need a ticket if they sit on the lap of an adult. Students will bring tickets home within the next couple of days.

Book Fair

The book fair is coming soon. Our class will preview books on Monday, November 17. Buying days begin November 20 and end on November 25.

Author at Spencer Library

If your child reads the Fablehaven and Beyonders series books, the author, Brandon Mull, will be at Spencer Library on Friday, November 21, at 6:30. If you are interested in attending, you need to register online in the Program and Events Calendar at youranswerplace.org or call 636.447.2320.

Saeger Band

Saeger Spartan Bands will be hosting their annual Instrument Selection Night on Thursday, November 20th at Saeger Middle School. Any 5th grade student who will be attending Saeger next year should attend! Each session will include an informational meeting about band for parents and students at the beginning, as well as a chance for students to try out the different instruments/mouthpieces. At this event, students will learn about the instrument choices available to Beginning Band students, and testers will help them find the instrument that is the best fit for them.
November 20th Schedule: (Please plan to arrive at the beginning
of the time slot)
5:30 PM to 7:00 PM – Students with last names beginning with A-L
7:15 PM to 8:45 PM – Students with last names beginning with M-Z
Please RSVP to this event by going online and visiting bit.ly/1zwlxES. If you cannot attend your assigned time slot, you may select the other. If you are interested in band class and cannot attend on the 20th at all, there is also an option to select for that. We will set up another time to meet with you!

If you have any questions, please contact Shannon Crepps at 636-851-5490 or by email at shannon.crepps@fhsdschools.org. If you would like to learn a little more about band at Saeger Middle School, please visit our band website: tinyurl.com/saegerbands.

No previous experience is required on an instrument or in music! Beginning Band students are just that – beginners!

Bottom Line

Please be assured that I always have your child's best interest at heart. Pretend that you have eleven children. That may help give you a view of life from my perspective. So when that moment comes that you are tempted to question my decisions or motives in a given situation, stop and visualize your home with eleven children living there :-) Seriously, if you have questions at any time, please feel free to contact me.

The Seven Habits

We continue to focus on being proactive. I'm not sure how much progress we are making. Independent work and decision making are sometimes a challenge. Fifth grade is preparation time for middle school. Most students find that if they have followed my instructions closely during fifth grade, middle school is a breeze.
