Welcome Back Jaguars!
Thank you,
Canyon View Community,
for your continued support!
Tardies
Please talk with your students about making it to class on time. We find that they want to socialize a little too much between classes. The goal is to work the entire class period, and late students disrupt this process.
A student shall be considered tardy if he/she is not inside the classroom and in their seat when the start time of that period has been reached.
Steps to follow when students are tardy to 1st hour:
Students arriving on campus after the tardy bell rings for 1st hour must report to the Welcome Center.
A late arrival to school may be verified with a parent/guardian call, note, or in-person in the Welcome Center.
These verified tardies will be limited to five per semester. All others will be considered unverified.
Procedures for Unverified Tardies:
1. Logged into system
2. Logged into system and contact home
3. Logged into system, contact home, Jag Success detention(s)
4. Logged into system, contact home, one day in ISS
5. Parent meeting

Welcome to our new teachers
Ally Fowler, Principles of Science
For the past five years I have worked as a general manager in the restaurant industry. I have years of experience working alongside young adults to help them grow and flourish in their next steps in or out of the restaurant. Though my background is not in the field, I feel very passionately about education for myself and most importantly your students. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality from Northern Arizona University and I am currently working towards a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. My core values include positivity and passion and I dedicate myself to exerting those characteristics daily. My number one goal is to help your students succeed in and outside of the classroom. I am excited to teach your students and help them grow this semester!
Emily Cox, Agriculture
My name is Emily Cox, and I have been working our agriculture science department for five years. I am a 2008 Millennium FFA alumn and went on to receive my bachelor's degree from ASU. I have a lot of experience with welding, woodworking, and livestock animals. The FFA has been a huge part of my life, and I have learned so much through the years which makes me excited to be your new ag teacher.
A.J. Martinez, Geometry
My name is A.J. Martinez. I have been teaching for over 12 years. This is my first time teaching outside of Texas. I just moved here from San Antonio. I have 5 children, 3 of them moved with me to Arizona.
I graduated from Texas A&M International University with a degree in Management Information Systems. I'm very excited to be a part of the Canyon View High School family. I am bringing a great attitude and open mind. I am looking forward to a great Spring Semester and beyond!
Skylar Nielsen, English 1
Mr. Nielsen was born in 1995 in Peoria, AZ and twenty-six years later graduated with a degree in English from ASU with a teaching certificate. Now he teaches English at Canyon View Highschool. Mr. Nielsen spends his free time reading and writing when he can manage to pull himself from the inescapable entertainment singularity known as the internet.

School Safety: COVID
Covid-19 Updates:
Featured on the homepage of the District and school web pages is an icon (shown below) with a direct link to where parents can submit their child's Covid-19 vaccination card or test result. Families can also access the documentation portal with this easy link: http://submit.aguafria.org
Parent/Guardian(s) - Calls will be made when students need to be placed in quarantine if identification is made during school hours. After hours, an email will be sent home.
While in quarantine, students will be able to access the curriculum through Google Classroom, our online platform. Teachers will place assignments on Google classroom weekly if not daily and will check in with your student to ensure they are not overwhelmed upon their return. Additional time will be given to complete any missed assignments. Students are also encouraged to reach out directly to their teachers.
Note: We need the support of our CVHS community in being cognizant of your child's health and to keep them home if they do not feel well. They will have access to the curriculum via Google classroom and will be given additional time to make up assignments.

Athletic Director's Message
I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. It was far from quiet for our Winter Sports and Athletes. All of our teams competed in a Holiday Tournament and did well. Our girls basketball team brought home the Championship Trophy from the Bullhead City Shoot Out and Senior Taylor Jacobs was named MVP!
Don't forget that Spring Sports Tryouts are on February 7th! All athletes must be cleared in Register My Athlete prior to trying out.
Please make sure to check the AZ Preps 365 website for any schedule changes for the season. Coaches will communicate via Remind and email if there are any changes. Thank you all for your continued to support. Go Jags!!
