Superintendent Report

Transportation Update | watch

Mr. Will McDermott from First Student provided the Board and community with an update on the start of the year transportation. He shared the challenges in the field of transportation as well as their plans for improving service and hiring more drivers. Board members asked questions of Mr. McDermott and thanked him for the report.

High Performing Board/Superintendent Governance Teams | watch

Dr. Steve Webb of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) presented an overview of high performing governance teams. His presentation created a framework for the activity and conversations that followed as part of the Committee of the Whole engagement session.

The community attendees and Board members, along with two principals worked together in table groups to identify who is responsible for a number of district action items. Dr. Kaczkowski shared the information about responsibilities and the table groups reported their thinking and provided feedback to the entire group.

In addition, the community and the Board asked questions and engaged in conversations related to governance related to learning standards and mandates. Two bills that were discussed were: SB0818 and HB0246.

Public Act 105 ILCS 5/27-9.1a was also discussed.
