Peek At The Week
March 4, 2019
Team,
Interim assessments for Math and ELAR were taken last week. We have some good data and will be building interventions from the data. ELAR will begin their interventions within the school day the Tuesday after Spring Break. We are patiently waiting for the test data to be inputted into Eduphoria, so that we can analyze data in an easier fashion than the current presentation. As soon as the data drops into Eduphoria, we will have Data Talks, so we can discuss specifics: Who is getting it, who isn't? What are we going to do with each set of students? As a clarifier, the Interim Assessments are the CBA 3 for Math and ELAR. I realize there are concerns regarding questions being assessed whose content has not yet been taught. Take those questions out of the denominator and calculate a score for the student that way. District policy states that we offer a test correction practice, where we review/reteach content so that students may gain back partial points to be added to their original score. Do your best to review the most missed content by clicking on the magnifying glass next to the red 'x'. Show the question missed and do a think aloud with your students or something similar.
Lots going on this week, so put on your seat belt!
Monday-Wednesday, we will be CBA 3 testing.
- Monday: Writing, ALL grades
- Tuesday: Science, ALL grades
- Wednesday: Social Studies, ALL grades
PLEASE be at school next week. We need everyone to assist us in practicing protocols for STAAR testing. Without you, we do not have the same level of practice necessary for ironing out any mistakes that might be made. Thanks in advance for being present.
All week long, SMS will be in contest with all other schools in the district! It is School Breakfast Week. The Goal is to serve 400 Breakfasts a Day! Share with your students so that #bestcampus can come out on top!
We will also be celebrating Mardi Gras this week by dressing up and eating some Cajun food. We will start off the week by having KING CAKE! If you get the piece with the baby, it's your responsibility to bring the next day's desert with the baby inside. This will repeat through Friday! For all who participate, you will earn a raffle ticket to be placed into a drawing for Mikey V's Hot Sauce Basket, featuring Bacon Salsa and the Carolina Reaper Pepper. Here are the specifics for the week:
- Monday: Wear Green for FAITH in your students
- FAT Tuesday Luncheon and Mask Judging Contest
- Wednesday: Wear Purple for Justice or dress as a Justice League Character
- Thursday: Wear Gold for Power! We will have students use their PBIS points to participate in having POWER for a day by being the Principal/AP!
Friday is an Incentive Day for students and an early release day for them as well. For our afternoon without students, we will participate in a Professional Development presentation on The Energy Bus. If you have small children, it is your responsibility to find after school care for them.
As always, Teach Happy!
