We Are Together Tamanend!

March 4, 2013

Anything Goes

Over 130 students are involved in this year's musical... Anything Goes. Tickets are available at the door for our evening shows on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and our matinee on Saturday which starts at 2 p.m. Of the many reasons why Anything Goes is outstanding, two points of pride are that the entire cast tap dances and our student pit band plays all of the music live. We are very proud of our students, teachers, and parents who pulled together to make this year's musical one that no one should miss!

Celebrate National School Breakfast Week!

All this week, Aramark is offering a $1 Breakfast Meal Deal to celebrate National School Breakfast Week. That means... instead of rushing breakfast at home (as you see Mr. Heisey doing), you could enjoy a delicious breakfast sandwich, fruit or fruit juice, potatoes, and milk... all for one dollar! For more information about Aramark's middle and high school breakfast program, visit the Aramark web page.

Bucks County World Languages Tournament

Last week many Central Bucks students participated in the Bucks County World Languages Tournament at William Tennent High School in the Centennial School District. This is an annual event where each school in Bucks County sends one team of 4-6 members per language to compete against other schools in Bucks County. The students are awarded a red, white or blue ribbon depending on how many points they earned during the rounds. With approximately 400 Bucks County students at the Tournament, we are proud of our Tamanend students who earned a Red Ribbon in Spanish and a Blue Ribbon in French. Thank you to all participants for your hard earned top ribbons; and thank you to all of our World Language teachers who make their classrooms a challenging and enjoyable learning experience every day!

6th Grade Parent Orientation

On March 5, parents of 6th graders who will attend Tamanend next year are encouraged to attend the Parent Orientation starting at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium. We thank the many students and staff who collectively create a very warm welcome to our new parents.

Interim Progress Reports - March 13th

IPRs will be available on the Parent Portal on March 13th, but don't wait until then to check your student's progress. Anytime is a great time to sit with your middle schooler and see how things are going on the Parent Portal. Ask your student questions if you have them. If you still have questions or concerns, please contact your student's teacher(s) or counselor asap.

March Boomerang Asset: Integrity

Do you know a TMS student who acts on his/her convictions and stands up for his/her beliefs? Please take a moment to nominate that student for Boomerang Recognition for the month of March. Here is our online nomination form: http://www.quia.com/sv/586058.html. Nominations are due March 22nd and our March Boomerang Brunch is March 26th.

  • Freshman Dance Planning Meeting: ALL TMS parents are encouraged to come out and participate in this Tamanend Tradition. We will magically turn our school entrance, cafeteria, and gym into a themed ballroom for a Freshman Dance that our 9th Graders will never forget... well, it isn't really magic that does it. It is the dedication of our TMS parents! 7th, 8th and 9th grade parents are needed. Please plan to attend on April 18th at 7 p.m.
  • Staff Appreciation Luncheon: We appreciate Mrs. Christine Pataki for coordinating the TMS Staff Appreciation Luncheon this year which will be on May 7th. To volunteer, please email Mrs. Pataki at flojo1213@comcast.net.
  • Relay for Life: 8th and 9th graders across the district are encouraged to participate in the CBSD Relay for Life hosted at Tohickon Middle School on May 18. Please mark your calendar and stay tuned for more information.
  • ARAMARK is sponsoring a student poster contest for National Nutrition month. Judging will occur at the elementary, middle and high school levels and there will be gift certificates to those students who are awarded.
  • In order to promote more students eating breakfast before school, Tamanend now has a breakfast cart. Students can purchase breakfast items from 7:10 a.m. until 7:27 a.m. NEW LOCATION FOR THE CART: Outside the Auditorium by the back of Mr. Sanchez's room so that students may buy breakfast as they arrive to school. Students will be able to use their IDs to swipe their account number, or they can enter it manually. Students will be allowed to eat breakfast in their homerooms.
