An "every so often" newsletter of share worthy stuff!
Thank You!
Thank you everyone for being so welcoming! Lots of stuff to get used to, especially the schedule and trying to remember everyone's name! I'm also not used a quiet library; it feels a bit lonely! Taking it one day at a time!
Library Website
The library's website has been uploaded to the School Wires Library Page. There's a lot there, but may be a good way to see how the library can help you and your students.
Sites for Lesson Ideas
There's a Page under the Teacher Section Called Lesson Plan Portals which may be helpful. At the top of the page you'll see a Google Custom Search. Enter your search terms and Google will search only the websites that appear on the page.
Intro Video
Hi everyone! Some of you had asked for the video I created shared at start of school, so here it is! (Can also use as an example of speaking too quickly for students learning about speaking skills! Sharing a few of the tools I mentioned below.

Demo Edpuzzle
Ed Puzzle
Ed Puzzle is an awesome tool for flipping your classrooms. You can upload video directly from Youtube and other sites, in addition to being able to upload your own videos (those which you've downloaded to your computer or have created on your own). Edpuzzle allows you to crop the video, add voice and add questions wherever you want. You can assign it to students through edpuzzle, but I think it would be easier to upload your finished video to Google Classroom or Edmodo. Let me know if you'd like any help using this tool or Google classroom.
Video Notes
Students have trouble taking notes and finding needed information from a video, but it's an important skill and one that they will be expected to do for the PAARC. Video Notes is similar to EdPuzzle, in that it's a tool that can be used for scaffolding the process, however Video Notes requires more independence. Basically, you upload a video and share with students. They can stop the video whenever they want and take notes at that point. If they go back to view the video, the notes will appear at the point which they recorded them. Video Notes is also linked to google drive so that students' notes can be synced to upload to a google document in their drive.
Formative Assessment
Great Article from Edutopia for ideas to check for student understanding.
