Making Sense of these Historic Times

School closure is a really tough situation for students and teachers. As we know, a school is much more than just the academics. It is a place where we come to find support, connect with friends, express ideas, and learn how to collaborate and problem solve. It is what we are accustomed to for most of the year since we were five. And now, school as we know it has been disrupted.

As we continue to move into this period of uncertainty, let me remind you how important it is that we care for and support each other. Let us be mindful that we have students, teachers, and community members who are anxious about COVID-19.

Given the unprecedented circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, questions have been asked about the fairness and viability of grades. While teachers districtwide are doing a remarkable job of converting their courses to online delivery with little prior preparation, many of our students and teachers continue to face challenges. This transition has been difficult for everyone, and we are sensitive to its impact on students’ grades.

With this in mind, we are reviewing our current grading standards with some consideration to issuing Pass/Fail in place of number grades.

In the meantime, please ensure that all work is completed and turned in by the due date, whether it be via Google Classroom or Paper Packets.

Week 2 paper packets will be due on Thursday, April 9th. Week 3 paper packets can be picked up between the hours of 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Zoom instruction and meal service will resume on Tuesday, April 14th. Have a Blessed Easter Holiday with your family.
