Wanted: Ernst Toller
$1000 Reward
Toller was famous for his pessimism style that rose as expressionism became all but dead. In one of his playwrights he created characters who settled into comfortable lives and became hypocrites by becoming content with the same things they used to rebel against. This sense of irony was used in his famous play entitled Hurrah, We Live! His unique style of creating plays using the pessimistic view instead of optimism is what gained him intrigue and support. He gave a little life back to the dying style of expressionism during his time. He was not only a playwright but also a political activist as will and his expressionist plays embodied his spirit of social protest.
