About Mohammad Ali Jinnah
Mohammad Ali Jinnah was born on December 25, 1876 in Karachi. His father was a Muslim and a prosperous merchant. Who died in 1902. His mother urged him into arranged marriage when he was 15. He agreed and married Emibai who was 14. When he left for school he didn't know he would not see his mother or his wife again. He went to school at Bombay University and at Lincoln's inn in London.In 1913 he became a member of the Muslim league.
While Jinnah was on vacation he met a 16 year old. Her name was Rattanbai or Ratta for short. When she turned 18 she converted to Islam and married Jinnah. A year later they had their first child Dina in 1919.By 1916 he was elected president of the Muslim league. Jinnah became a member of the Indian national congress in 1906. And in 1920 the noncooperation act was launched. He opposed the act and resigned. There were profound differences between the Indian congress and the Muslim League. By the 1940's the relationship between Hindu's and Muslim's deteriorated. Jinnah had always believed unity was impossible.

When Mohammad was born his name was Mahomedali Jinnahbhai.
He decided that partition was necessary to protect the Indian Muslims. Jinnah insisted partition to the British. He succeeded and there was partition of India. Resulting in the formation of Pakistan on August 17, 1947. He died of tuberculosis on September 11, 1948.
