Author: Aaron Daviduk
What is Digital Citizenship?
Digital Citizenship is the act of having responsible behavior on the internet. That means, you shouldn't click into things like pop-up adds, or suspicious emails. You shouldn't download pirated versions of music, movies, etc...
Suspicious emails
That beautiful girl from Brazil, could be an old guy from down the street, slowly weaseling his way to sending viruses to your computer, without you having the slightest idea.
Identity Theft
So much as typing your email in a website that you feel is a little sketchy, can open up a doorway to hackers.
Safety
Being safe on the internet is essential for everyone of all ages. All you need to do is know where there are potential viruses, or hackers.
5 Things you should do to be safe, and how you can remain as a good citizen
- Stay AWAY from illegal downloads and pop-up adds
- Don't share any personal information (Passwords, Your last name, Moms maiden name, etc...)
- Keep an eye on your accounts, so you can assure that you aren't being hacked into
- Make strong passwords that you can remember
- Update your software when given the chance, your computer will become less vulnerable to viruses and hackers
