Butler - THINK BIG!
Important Announcements
A Reminder Regrading Attendance
When a child is absent for one- or a consecutive number of days:
1. Please make sure you are sending in a written note within 3 days of your child returning to school following an illness. After 3 unexcused absences, the student is considered truant by CB School Board Policy 204. Parents will be invited to attend a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) Meeting.
2. The policy also states that the district considers excessive absences to be ten or more days (excused or unexcused). After 10 days of absence, a doctor's note will be required for all past and subsequent absences. Again, after 10 or more absences, the school will hold a School Attendance Improvement Plan Meeting with parents (and possibly the elementary student).
Thank you for your continued support in getting students to school to ensure for their best chances of successful and consistent learning!
NAESP: Report to Parents - Make Every Day Count: Boost School Attendance
Guidelines have been updated within the last year by ThePennsylvania Department of Education with respect to Truancy and Student absences. As such, the Central Bucks School District has updated their Board Policy #204. Routine school attendance is important for every student's development and success in school, regardless of age. Our school, in partnership with all parents and guardians, will always work toward helping every child meet the standard of expectations for regular attendance.
"To stay on track in school, students need to be present every day. Missing 18 or more days of school in a year puts a child’s high school graduation at risk, according to www.absencesaddup.org, a national chronic absenteeism prevention campaign. Being absent for just two days every month of the school year can put a child behind academically."

Aramark: National School Breakfast Week - Breakfast with the Principals
To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available for school breakfast, Central Bucks schools celebrated National School Breakfast Week March 4-8. To encourage a great ending to the week, our principals - Mr. Funseth and Mr. Brosious - took a moment to enjoy a great start to their day on March 8th with a school breakfast! Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to:
- Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
- Score higher on standardized tests
- Have better concentration and memory
- Be more alert
- Maintain a healthy weight
Thanks to Mrs. Dawn Schlotter, Butler's Cafeteria Supervisor, and her hard-working crew for their efforts with breakfast and lunch everyday in our cafeteria!
