Big picture

The CCPD is having their annual Toy Drive. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off in the morning carline on Tuesday, December 8th. Home Connect families can drop off toys at the front office.

Instructional Model Changes

This week we will be sending out information for parents/guardians to choose a different instructional model. All students may opt to change their model when school resumes in January, which is before the end of the quarter. Home Connect students who are not making adequate progress will receive additional communication, as the state of Florida has indicated that they must return to Face to Face instruction.

Holiday Giving Tree

Oasis Elementary will be collecting gifts this season for some of our less fortunate students. By donating to our Holiday Giving Tree, you have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children in our school. Your involvement sends a message of care and support to children in need. We are collecting gifts now through December 17th. We will place cards on our holiday tree outside of the main office, please take a card with you and return it with your gift. Alternatively, you can send gifts to Stefanii Foster, School Counselor, without taking a card from the tree, and your gift will be matched with a child.

Health Screenings

Health screenings begin tomorrow, Monday, December 7th at 8:45am and will go through Wednesday, December 9th. Next week, we will be conducting health screenings for home connect students and for those students in all grades who are receiving ESE services. Only students in Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade and all students who are receiving ESE services will participate in the screenings.

Who’s ready to have some fun with STEM?

As part of our system’s efforts to increase STEM opportunities for all students, we would like to invite all families with students in grades K-8 to participate in a home STEM bingo game. Engaging in STEM and design thinking activities has shown to have tremendous impact in increasing students’ understanding of critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking.

Over the next two months, we invite you to work as a family to complete any five (or more!) challenges from the bingo cards below.

STEM Bingo

The five challenges you work on do not have to be done in a row on the card, simply choose the five your family is most interested in completing.

When you are done, please complete this Google Form with information on the challenges you completed and photos showing your family working together on these tasks. Please complete the form by Monday, January 4.

All students who complete this challenge and submit photos through the Google Form above will receive a laser engraved keepsake from the OMS Gator Garage Makerspace.

We hope you have fun as a family with this challenge. We can not wait to see all the great solutions you come up with!
