Reading and Writing

This is the third week of a three week unit about polar bears. Now that we have gathered information about polar bears from a variety of resources each student will create a technology project to showcase their learning with our class, school, and beyond. We will be using the Tellagami app to create our projects on the iPads.

We will also be reading the Magic Tree House book, Polar Bears Past Bedtime which is a good example of how non-fiction and fiction can be mixed together for informational entertainment.

We will be working on place value by practicing composing and decomposing numbers up to 120. We continue to work on understanding that the two digits of a two-digit number represent the amount of tens and ones.

We will also be taking the Texas Elementary Math Inventory assessment this week. This is a measure of your child's numeracy skills that we take at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

We wil be learning about the skeletal and muscular systems this week. On Friday, we will take the systems unit assessment.
