I want to give a huge shout out again to our amazing Parent-Teacher Organization! They have secured about $1000 total in fundraising for our PTO and school through PTO Family dinner and dessert nights! Thank you to Baskin Robbins, Noodles & Co. and Madison Marketplace for their support and donations! Thank you to those families who participated and helped to support the Pershing PTO! For those who purchased pies, they will be available for pick-up at Pecan Park this Thursday after 1p.m.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are this week! November 16-20

Please be sure to read all communications from your child's teacher to sign-up for your Zoom Parent-Teacher Conference, which will be held this week. If for some reason you do not yet have an appointment scheduled with your child's teacher, please email the teacher this evening to coordinate a time to meet on Zoom. For some classes, there may be slight changes to the schedule to allow for teachers to have enough time to meet with each family. PE, art and music classes will still occur at their scheduled times, so please be aware. We are aware that times have been very challenging for some during distance learning. This is an opportunity to connect, learn more together to best support your child, and to find areas for focus to help your child continue to learn and grow.

Please be aware that your child's teacher may not have answers to questions you have regarding the transition to in-person learning based on the model SJUSD has selected for January 5th. For more information about the selected model, please visit: Parent-teacher conferences are not for addressing those questions or concerns. Although you may confirm with your child's teacher for the Pershing Office your program enrollment for the January 5th scheduled transition, the Parent-Teacher Conference is intended to be focused on your student's progress.

For more upcoming events and important dates, please see the calendar list below. If you have questions, please call us at 916-979-8076 or email me at

Fun Happenings on Zoom: Visiting Scientist

Mrs. Rugg's class had a visitor to their Zoom class on November 3rd, Mr. Michael Smith, a Distinguished Scientist in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Physics Division, where he led the Experimental Astrophysics Group for 26 years. The class was prepared with questions they had prepared about the universe, stars and more. Students were very excited and nervous, but thankful for his gift of his time. Visits such from different experts not only help to deepen student understanding of concepts, but also serves to broaden student awareness of possible jobs they may explore in their future. Mrs. Rugg was grateful for the opportunity to share her class with Mr. Smith!
