Cell Structure
By Amanda Bengera & Anna Hummel
Cell Functions
- Mitochondria- The cells "powerhouse"
- Nucleus- Controls the activities of the cell.
- Nuclear membrane- Controls what enters and leaves the membrane.
- Nucleolus- Contains all the DNA of the cell.
- Cell membrane- Protects the interior of the cell.
- ER- Ships proteins.
- Cell Wall- Provides protection.
- Cytoplasm- Supports and protects cell organelles.
- Vacuole- Stores large amounts of sugar and food.
- Chloroplast- Releases oxygen, photosynthesis.
- Golgi Body- Package and exports proteins.
- Ribosomes- Makes proteins.
- Chromosome- Carry all the info a cell needs to grow.

Cell Transport
- Passive transport requires no energy because the movement is from high to low concentration.
- Diffusion is random movement of molecules from high to low concentration.
- Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a semi permeable membrane.
- Facilitated diffusion is the helper protein. It allows movement form high to low concentration.
- Active transport uses energy (ATP) Low to high concentration.
