Inside Scoop
Special Staff Edition - March 18, 2020
Message from the Superintendent
I want to thank each of you for the professionalism, calmness, and the care you showed your students, families, and colleagues during the abrupt shut down of our classrooms and offices the past few days. I am especially grateful to our Early Childhood and MMSE & Early On staff for packing everything up in a moment’s notice in order to move to our MAISD South building!
Like all of you, I am deeply concerned for the children and adults we cannot serve at this time. These are times like we have never seen before. And we all have more questions than answers.
To help everyone cope with these trying times, we are committed to staying connected with staff on a regular basis. We are launching this special staff edition of the Inside Scoop on a weekly basis to keep us all connected during these unpredictable times.
Stay safe and healthy,
John
Staying In Touch
Achieving two-way communication is a challenge under these circumstances, so we have developed a Google Form to ask questions, pass along personal tips, relate a story of a staff member who has gone above and beyond, or share any resources that you found helpful, so we might provide them to other staff members. Please use this link to open the “Let’s Connect” Google Form - Let's Connect

Hotline Announced
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has just launched a statewide hotline where public health and other experts will respond to health-related questions about coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The hotline is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1-888-535-6136. The team can also direct people to resources in their local communities and in other state government departments. Staff cannot provide individual clinical advice or diagnosis through the hotline.
This is no Snow Day
Please see the important message below from Public Health Muskegon:
It is important that schools and community members understand and follow the U.S. and Michigan executive orders and recommendations related to gatherings and business operations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the overall public health of our community. Current national guidance encourages the following:
Limit close contact with others as much as possible, staying 6 feet away.
Limit gatherings to less than 10 people.
While school is dismissed students should not gather in other public places.
