Hello from the principal's desk!
Volume 12, Issue 17
May 15, 2019
Hello RBE families,
As many of you have heard, I have announced my resignation as Ruby Bridges principal for next year. I have been humbled by the support and well wishes I have received from the many students and families that have reached out to me. In only two short years, I really was welcomed into the RBE family and we were able to do some pretty cool things. Thank you.
It turns out that Mr. Lundholm has also announced his resignation for next year. His message is below...
Dear RBE Community,
I officially resigned from my position as VP of Ruby Bridges Elementary on Wednesday, May 8th. I let teachers know just before I made it official. It has been a pleasure working at RBE, and I will miss the kids, the folks who work at the school, and the community. As I mentioned to teachers: I struggled with the decision, and I’m sad to go, but the universe has let me know it’s time. I wanted to act now because I know it’s best for the school if I move as early as possible, so that the district can find a good replacement. I will continue to work as hard as I can to help the kids and the school until I leave in June.
I’d like to wish all of you well on my way out.
-Ben Lundholm
Our teaching staff, classified staff and parent groups are organizing a hiring committee for the next principal. Superintendent Sean McPhetridge visited our school last week to talk about the timelines. The team is hopeful that we will know who the next principal is going to be before the year is out. I am sure that an excellent new leader will be hired to continue the good work at this remarkable school!
All for now.

Yearbooks!
This is a special message from PTA about the 2018/2019 YEARBOOK... We will be passing out the books on Tuesday, June 4th, so please order yours today! They are $10 each, and we would like to ask if you are able, to donate a few extra bucks so that EVERY student can receive one. Making and selling the Yearbook has never been a fundraiser for our PTA, but if we all contribute we can make sure that we are able to do this every year.
Yearbooks are a celebration of the Students and their academic journey. They show the school’s community and the friendships made over the past year. Featuring hundreds of wonderful photos taken since back in August, your family will cherish this book for years to come.
Students can give their Teachers the $10 (or more!) in an envelope, or visit www.rubybridgespta.org/yearbook to use our paypal link.
*Special thanks goes out to Joe Golling, who again has donated his amazing time and expertise to putting the Yearbook together. The guy really is amazing, is at all the events and takes great pictures. Thanks again Joe!!!

Please contact Ms. Jones-Szabo by email sjszabo@alamedaunified.org , or drop off a note in the office.

The program is largely funded through Power Up For Learning, a partnership between AEF and Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) where AMP customers designate a small amount to be added to their monthly power bill, which is collected by AMP and presented to AEF each summer to support technology education. AMP customers may sign up for Power Up For Learning here.
