Notes from Dr. Irvin
Your WGHS Weekly eNews for October 20
Hello WGHS Families,
I have had the recent honor of participating in some senior recognitions moments in our athletic and activities programs--always a bittersweet event. While it is endearing to hear what the particular program has meant to students and families, it is a reminder of the finite time we have with all of our seniors and our hopes for them. Our family experienced that rite of passage two years ago: deep sincere care for our son by his coaches and an acknowledgement of an impact that can be long lasting.
I feel the urgency of our work with the limited window we share with your student in the classroom, on the field, or the stage. We hope they are experiencing impactful learning and mentoring this year that will put them on a trajectory to have lives of service and purpose.
Each school year, we request feedback from parents/guardians for our building administrators and their performance. This feedback is intended to help us grow as administrators and ensure continuing support and guidance for staff and students throughout the district. After a brief break of surveying staff due to the pandemic, we have reinstated surveys for all administrators for the 2022-2023 school year.
Please take a moment to provide feedback on my performance by October 31. Thank you for your continued support and helping me grow.

Webster Groves School District will conduct a test of its emergency notification system Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
We want to be sure you are informed of school cancellations due to inclement weather or in case of an emergency in our school community. The annual test of our notification system ensures WGSD has accurate contact information for parents and guardians.
A phone message will be sent to our WGSD families and staff, followed by a text, WGSD app notification and email message.
Make sure your family contact information is accurate. Families should check phone numbers and contact information in SIS here. Staff should check with their school or building. If you need to update this contact information, please contact your school.

Help Evaluate Our Programs
During the 2022-2023 school year, multiple programs and curricular areas are under review as part of a process known as program evaluation. Program evaluations are directly tied to Board of Education Policy IM: Evaluation of Instructional Programs and Policy IF: Curriculum Development. The program evaluation process includes a review of data, researching current and future practices in that area, and collecting and analyzing feedback from our stakeholders. Following a program evaluation, recommendations are then made to the Board of Education for next steps.
This year the following curricular areas and programs are under review:
Curricular Areas:
K-12 Math
K-12 Counseling and Guidance
Non-Curricular Areas:
Technology
Safety Program and Emergency Response and Intervention Plan
Programming for McKinney Vento (Homelessness) and Migratory Students
As part of each program evaluation, we are requesting feedback and input from the community. The results of the surveys will be one data point used in evaluating the entire program and determining recommendations for the future. To share your feedback, please click the specific surveys below:
K-12 Counseling and Guidance Survey
Safety Program and Emergency Response and Intervention Plan
McKinney Vento (Homelessness) and Migratory Program
All surveys will remain open for feedback until Tuesday, November 1 at 4 p.m. At that time, surveys will close and the feedback will be collected for the program evaluation process.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us!
