Professional Development Day

The Archdiocese of Chicago has granted the schools additional professional development days. We have been cognizant of schedules and have not used any additional ones. However, on Friday, May 7, 2021, we will be using one.

We are looking at implementing new curricular programs, most specifically for Language Arts and Religion and need a day to review those.

We have been given new religion standards and are reviewing those on April 30 with The Archdiocese. On May 7, we are reviewing the texts so that they we may align the standards to the curriculum.

As far as Language Arts is concerned, we researching launching a comprehensive writing program for Grades K-8.

We understand this day is not on the original calendar. We will have Extended Day available for those of you that would need child care assistance. Please contact Mrs. Kaminski at by April 30, 2021 if you believe you would need to take advantage of this program.

Totus Tuus at St. Damian

The Totus Tuus program aims to inspire young people to long for holiness, develop a deep desire for conversion and personally renew their faith with a stronger prayer life. Through evangelization and catechesis, Totus Tuus seeks to foster openness to the sacrifices and blessings of the various Christian vocations.

For those already familiar with Totus Tuus, we must share that student volunteers are not permitted this summer as the Archdiocese permits only adult volunteers that have successfully completed background checks/compliance requirements.

That being said - YOU are needed to help us during camps this year at St. Damian! Please contact Mrs. Plesha right away at 708-687-7778 to volunteer.
