Holiday reading - online

A look at online resources supported by the library.

Overview

The purpose of this Smore is to share a selection of reading resources that we have available via Ding and the library. You can access most of these resources 24/7 in all locations so this is ideal for continuing with reading over the summer break.

Oxford Owl Log In Details

I have set up several accounts with easy log ins for your children.

I can only set up 5 'classes'...and there are only 50 log ins per class.

The logo is on Ding for easy access but you can also sign in directly on oxfordowl.co.uk.

Sign in to the pink Class Login logo

They follow this format:

Class Log in - dckids1

Password - dckids1

This is the same for all 5 classes eg dckids2, dckids3, dckids4 and dckids5.

Please try another number if the first option does not let you in.

Choose books by age or theme.

** Ideal for Years 1-4 on iPads as well as laptops.

Book Trailer and Author Talks

With supervision, this is another great way to share a love of literature is to introduce your child to authors via their own page, their publisher's page or by book trailers or read-alouds on YouTube.

For example, this one on perseverance, grit and creativity.

The Most Magnificent Thing - It teaches children to not only embrace their ideas and dreams but that if you follow through and never give up you can achieve your goals whatever they are! It even teaches them to take a break when overwhelmed or frustrated because as long as you do not quit you will eventually make your dreams come true!
