A little About Clara Barton and the American Red Cross
Clara Barton was born on December 25, 1821 in Oxford, Massachusetts. She helped during the civil war and distributed stores, clean field hospitals, applied dressings, and served food to wounded soldiers and cared for her brother. She was the first woman to work in a government job. After the civil war ended, she created the American Red Cross in May 21,1881. Barton spent many years helping America in many disasters such as caring for the victims of war, floods, hurricanes, tornados and many other natural disasters.
