Patriot Pride!
So a few days ago I had a brief conversation with a parent in the front foyer and this is what he had to say.
Parent: He thanked me for a few items and then said, I just want you to know I had a parent request to transfer my daughter to Garcia since last year. We've been on a wait-list for sometime and last week I got a call that availability had finally opened up and we were set to transfer. But ever since this year has begun we've started to rethink that decision. We declined the offer, she is so happy here, thank you and your teachers for whatever it is you guys are doing.

I'm sure you can imagine how I felt, it was probably the best thing anyone has said to me all year so far. Thank you for all you do every single day to make kids feel like they belong here and not somewhere else. I am honored to work with all of you and humbled by the work you do. I hope you are as proud as I am to call myself a Patriot! Keep up the great work!
GRUB CLUB (SAVE THE DATE)
So let's bring on the food and fun!
This is how it works, one Friday per month a department takes on "Grub Club" you can go as all out or as quick and easy as you'd like! The point is, it's Friday, we're hungry and well, it's fun!
Admin, Counselors and Office staff will host the October Grub Club, Friday, October 26th, in the Patriot Place (aka Faculty Learning room). Breakfast begins at 7:30, we'll remind you by announcement that morning!
Sign-up's for November, January, February, March & April will begin later this month through your department coordinator.
Did you know???
NISD Threads, run through NISD Family Engagement Center, is up and running.
Threads is a 100% volunteer, 100% donation based site where any NISD student who has the need can get clothes - 5 pairs of gently used tops, bottoms, and 5 sets of brand new underwear and socks. Threads runs out of the old NAMS South building on Blessing Road (not far from Sul Ross). Before Threads even officially opened, they served over 100 students - that's over 500 jeans, tops, socks and undies.
HUGE VOLUNTEER HOURS OPPORTUNITY for our NJHS students!!
If you're doing any closet cleaning, please think about donating any school appropriate clothing you may find to Threads. They're especially short on jeans - we're told that size 12 and adult sizes are especially hard to keep in stock. If you get any donations to the counseling office, we'll get them over to Threads.
We've already sent a few of our families over to Threads. If you suspect a family has the need, please refer them to the counseling office, and we'll set up a referral.
Reminder about PROXY BADGES
Have you ever wanted to get into the building before 7:30AM? Have you ever forgotten something and been locked out??
Well, you will now be able to do so via your NEW Proxy Badge. Proxy Badges will give you access from 6:45am-8:00pm Monday thru Friday only.
Patti will be taking pictures or reprinting your current picture on a NEW Proxy Badge, Monday, October 8th (Staff Dev day) starting at noon.
Stop by C101 for your badge!

Some of you expressed an interest in being apart of PBIS but are also part of other committees so weren’t able to be apart of our first objective. Just add your name to a list if you want to be apart of restructuring one or more of the following common areas. All aboard! #RawlinsonUnited
Unsightly Update!
Don't you just enjoy how they welcome all of us to school everyday and welcome our visitors at every home game?
Well... not only are we receiving two NEW ones, but they will be relocated to another more appropriate place! Yaaaay for small victories and to getting our campus up to the standards we all deserve to work in!
Charles Johnson!
From:Christine Russell
Has honestly been my 'go to' this six weeks! Whether he is covering my duty, helping out with technology, or even taking care of some clerical tasks, he is always willing to help out! And...he is really awesome with his REAL job which is helping our kiddos to be successful both inside and outside the classroom!!

Thank you to the moon and back for all the effort and time you all have put in towards our PBIS goals! Ya'll really made it happen in such a small amount of time and without a lot of notices! It takes a village and I sure am glad I'm in yours.

Angels on the Football field!
Thanks to Kilborn, Coach Junkin and Nurse Diana for being "first responders" at Wednesday nights football game. These three went right into action when a young man from the Stinson team went down. EMS was called and I've just received two separate emails from individuals who praised our campus and staff for a job well done in an emergency!
You three are absolute ROCK STARS! Just got notice that the student from Stinson is doing okay!
