Spring Cleaning!!
Welcome to another edition of the Tech Team Update! Please find pertinent and relevant information from our department listed below. Thank you for everyone's patience last week as we dealt with a power outage and phone issues. We hope everyone has an enjoyable Spring Break!
From the Desk of Dr. Brenner...
Please take a look at what you are printing for yourself and your students and ask:
- Is it really necessary that I print this?
- Can I save paper and print on both sides?
- Does it really need to be in color?
- Can I share it online with my students instead of making copies?
Utilizing the copiers is our cheapest option and will allow us to reduce the amount we spend on copying so we can purchase more Chromebooks and items for the classroom! Thank you for thinking twice before printing!
From the Desk of Ben Williams...
Increased Phishing attempts. We have recently noticed an uptick in phishing attempts against our users. (Phishing refers to a fraudulent email that attempts to get you to reveal sensitive information, or as an attempt to get you to infect your computer with malware.) Some of these attacks are highly specific and seem credible if you are not paying close attention.
Beware of emails from outside the district from people that are posing as district personnel. Do not open strange attachments under any circumstances if you are unsure of the sender. Do not enter usernames and passwords into any site, unless you are 100% certain of the site's authenticity. The safest practice is to navigate to a website by using bookmarks or by using direct URLs when possible. Be careful, and stay safe.
From the Desk of Charles Noga...
Now that you have cleaned up all your old files it is time to protect the ones you need and would not want to lose or recreate. Our best option going forward is to MOVE YOUR FILES to Google Drive. As members of google for education, we have unlimited storage. You can copy all of your favorite files to the google cloud where they will be accessible from any of your devices. There is a growing concern over ransomware; many schools and government agencies are being targeted by this form of digital extortion. If your files are stored safely in the google cloud they would have an extra layer of protection. Here is a link to a video that shows you how to use google drive. https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/googledriveanddocs/uploading-files-to-google-drive/1/
Tune in next month for the continuing adventure of team technology!

1. In both the personal email (if it is asking for access from a personal email). and the school email go to manage accounts. Then go to the Security tab on the left side of the screen. Then Manage 3rd Party access. You will want to remove the Google Drive LTI by Canvas app.
2. Sign out of your personal account on the device.
3. In canvas you will want to go to account then settings. Once there click the trash can next to Google Drive LTI IAD-Prod.
4. You will want to click on google drive under other services and it will re-link your google drive to canvas.
As always if you have an issue feel free to submit a ticket and we will be there to assist you as much as possible.
From the Desk of Christian Plaster...
To ensure a long life from your projector, be sure it is turned off when not in use. If you notice a buildup of dust on or in your projector, feel free to let us know and we can get that cleaned out for you.
When putting in a ticket for any printer, please be sure to include the EZ number. This can be found either on the front or the top of the printer on a large sticker.
I would also like to thank the high school for their patience with the radio maintenance recently.
