November is here!

It's almost time for Thanksgiving, our students have completed two six-week periods of school, and we are all ready for a well-earned break. We have a few more weeks of hard work, engaging activities, and lots of school fun!

Lipscomb Fiesta

We appreciate you!

We would like to thank everyone responsible for the planning of the Lipscomb Fiesta!

Our event was a great success thanks to the people in the planning committee, and to all that attended the event.

Our thanks to the organizational committee including Cynthia Rodriguez, Ana & Brandon McKinney, Diana Segura, Jackie Hernandez, Amy Corrales, Maria Valdez, Gabby Garcia, Elizabeth Maturino, April Barrera, Mary Grimaldo, Mendy Roblero, Susan Donez, Molly Camp, Marina Cardoza, Tiffani Cornell, Louise Bexley... and every teacher and student that collaborated in creating the country presentations for each booth.

Thanks to Frank Cavazos for the sound equipment and Ms. Mora for being our DJ.

And to the Ballet Folklórico Tenochtitlán and the Matachines dancers, our most sincere appreciation! You made a difference in our multi-cultural event!

Martin Ortiz and Tania Ruiz have donated their time and effort to our school's garden.
These dedicated Lipscomb parents have spent hours in the garden, building new raised beds, turning over soil, planting, and much more.

Lipscomb Centennial Kick-off Party

Friday, Nov. 15th, 5:30-8pm

Dear Lipscomb Community,

Please join our school and neighborhood community as we launch Lipscomb Elementary's 100th Anniversary celebration! Lipscomb was established in 1921, and we are very excited to celebrate a century of learning in Old East Dallas.

We will be enjoying tapas from around the world in honor of our IB World School. We will also discuss centennial celebrations occurring over the next 18 months and centennial improvements to bring us into the future.

Significant others and guests are welcome. We hope to see you there!

New Drug Free USA Forever Stamp Revealed

Earlier this year, NFP and the Drug Enforcement Administration submitted a joint letter to the U.S. Postal Service's Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee, to propose a stamp to raise national awareness about the dangers of drug misuse. The U.S. Postal Service revealed the new “Drug Free USA Forever” stamp last week in conjunction with NFP's Red Ribbon Week. Click here to learn more:

If you know of any families new to Dallas ISD or if you are a parent of a student currently in PK and Kindergarten and are interested in your child participating in the 2-Way Dual Language program next year, the application link is now available. It can be found at
