Thank you - April is Volunteer Appreciation Month!
We are so fortunate at Southview to have wonderful volunteers who support our school, our students and our teachers on a daily basis. April is volunteer appreciation month and we would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every volunteer; from hot lunch helpers, class trip chaperones, SAC members, parent coaches and athletic supporters (including those who drive students to their events), library helpers, yard supervisors, program supporters, club helpers, and those who support the school through their generous donations and time. We also thank our families at this time for their ongoing home support as we guide students toward being their very best selves. In the words of Margaret Mead, 'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.'
Southview staff and administration sincerely thank you.
Track and Field
This year, the NDSS track is out of use for the season as it is resurfaced. We hope to be able to head back to NDSS in 2020, but this year we are planning on hosting our own Track and Field school meet at Southview Public. This will be the same fun day of participation, sportsmanship and skill development as it has always been. A huge thank you to our teachers for organizing this event for our Grade 3-8 students. Our school event will be Thursday, May 16th with the Division 1 meet being held on June 5th at CaraCo Field in Kingston.
Spring EQAO
Our Grade 3 and Grade 6 EQAO dates have been set. This assessment is an opportunity for students to show their learning to the best of their ability. A letter will be sent home in the near future explaining the assessment for those students who will be participating this year.
Grade 3 - May 22, May 23, May 24
Grade 6 - May 28, May 29, May 30
We ask that if you have appointments that they be at the end of the day as the assessment will run during the first two blocks (9:15-11:15 & 11:55-1:35). Thank you for helping us protect this learning time.
