Australian Saltwater Crocodiles

by Ella Fitzsimons 3D

Saltwater crocodiles are native Australian reptiles.

The scientific name is crocodylus porosus.

Saltwater crocodiles are found in Australia, America, Africa and Asia. They live in rivers, lakes and swamps. They eat fish, birds and cattle.

They have a wide snout, thick teeth, short legs and webbed feet. When the babies are ready there mum teaches them how to swim. The mum lays 50 or more eggs. The mum carries them in her mouth.

The crocodile is the largest reptile in the world. They can go without food for a week.

Sadly there are hunters hunting them for their skin. They are not endangered yet. People could use other materials to make their shoes and handbags.
