- Wed and Thurs 8:00am-3:30pm
- Friday 8:00a,-12:00pm
March Madness
March Madness Library Style was a lot of fun. Students and teachers enjoyed making their predictions and voting on which book would be Woodstone's favorite. The winner was Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynold's. Proof to me how much impact author visits make on students, as Mr. Reynold's was our visiting author last year.
April Recap
I can not believe there are only 5 more weeks of school! Where has this year gone? April is National Poetry Month so students participated in a lot of poetry activities in the library this month. 2nd-5th graders participated in poetry stations to get us ready for Poetry Alive who is visiting May 4th. Kinder students heard poems during most of their story times this month. Many students and teachers participated in our 2nd" Poem in Your Pocket Day". Some classes participated in Skype chats sharing poems with students in Vermont and New York. They were shocked to hear that it gets below 0 degrees in both places during the winter. 5th grade students also researched ecosystems in the library using books, ipads and new Chromebooks. We ended the month with our 4th grade Battle of the Books. It was a great battle resulting in a win for Mrs. Herrera's team! They will be representing Woodstone at the District battle on May 21 at Wetmore!
Poetry Stations
After reading the poem "Ode to Family Photographs" by Gary Soto, students were asked to find a picture that reminded them of a time with their family and write a poem about it. Some poems rhymed, some did not. Some poems were funny and some were very touching like this one.
