Counselor Corner
What do you do when something unexpected happens? Maybe you feel sad, scared or upset, but what behaviors do you show? Maybe you end up hurting other people’s feelings too. It’s always a great idea to pause and take a deep breath before responding. This is something you can reinforce and practice with your child at home to regulate their feelings. Second graders are learning about the Wheel of Strategies for dealing with conflict. Please ask them what they learned. Keep open communication with all age children and ask how they feel when unexpected disappointments arise. For more tips on conflict resolution contact LShaw@ methacton.org or 610-489-5000 X41207. Lori Shaw, School Counselor.
